Wonderful Huayna Picchu

Huayna Picchu is the mountain that is in the background of almost every picture you’ve seen of Machu Picchu. Not everything realizes that there is a trail to the top and it’s a must do for anyone visiting Machu Picchu. The trail is steep but can be accomplished by anyone reasonably fit. It takes about an hour to go uphill. In some places of the trail are ropes that help you from falling off the edge on the way up or down. But I do remember a rope hanging down near the top that I used to pull myself up a few feet. The bigger problem depends upon your cardiovascular condition. Give yourself plenty of time to get up to the top. Also, be careful not to bash your head on the low ceiling in that rock tunnel; you can skip the tunnel if want but it´s fun. Going up Huayna Picchu was one of the most memorable parts of my visit to Machu Picchu, so I highly recommend making the effort.
