Two weeks in Peru

Figuring out how to spend two weeks in Peru? There’s a lot of options. Here’s one itinerary:

Start and end in Lima. Day one, arrive in Lima. Day two, explore the colonial parts of Lima. Day three, take the bus to Huaraz where you can spend the next two or three days hiking. At the end of day six, take a night bus back to Lima where on the next day you can take a flight to Cusco.

Spend a full day exploring Cusco, then head to Machu Picchu, spend the night in the small town next to the ruins so that you can see Machu Picchu early the next morning before all the tourists arrive. Head back to Cusco for another day, then a night bus to Arequipa. Spend two nights in Arequipa, then a bus back to Lima to end the trip.

There are many, many variations on how to spend two weeks in Peru, this being only one and not the best for everybody but it gets some good hiking at Huaraz into the trip.
